The series artists include:<\/p>\n<ul id=\"artists\">\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: Cedric Burnside\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=77\">Cedric Burnside<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: Big George Brock\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=81\">Big George Brock<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: Terry \u201cHarmonica\u201d Bean\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=57\">Terry Harmonica Bean<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: Jimmy \u201cDuck\u201d Holmes\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=70\">Jimmy \u201cDuck\u201d Holmes<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: Anthony \u201cBig A\u201d Sherrod\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=84\">Anthony \u201cBig A\u201d Sherrod<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: Robert \u201cWolfman\u201d Belfour\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=66\">Robert \u201cWolfman\u201d Belfour<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile:  Homemade Jamz Blues Band\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=74\">The Homemade Jamz Blues Band<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Artist Profile: James \u201cSuper Chikan\u201d Johnson\" href=\"http:\/\/mississippibluesproject.org\/?p=63\">James \u201cSuper Chikan\u201d Johnson<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Website<\/h2>\n<p>The MBP website will become a repository of content from four performances, each featuring a pair of artists, as well as artist interviews which will air on WXPN\u2019s <em><a title=\"The Blues Show with Jonny Meister\" href=\"http:\/\/xpn.org\/xpn-programs\/blues-show\">The Blues Show<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/xpn.org\/xpn-programs\/world-cafe\" target=\"_blank\">World Cafe\u00ae<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 Capturing live performances will contribute to the long tradition of field recording \u2013 and limited studio recording \u2013 of Mississippi Blues.\u00a0 The site features essays, links and resources about the Mississippi Blues, video and audio from additional blues artists who have contributed to the art over the years.<\/p>\n<h2>Activities<\/h2>\n<p>Rounding out the Project are two outreach activities, an educational engagement with Philadelphia\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/liveconnections.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Live Connections<\/a>, and a screening of Roger Stolle and Jeff Konkel\u2019s documentary \u201cWe Juke Up In Here\u201d at the <a href=\"http:\/\/aampmuseum.org\" target=\"_blank\">African-American Museum<\/a> in Philadelphia.\u00a0 Through all of its elements the Mississippi Blues Project will connect artists and audiences, and foster new appreciation for the past, present and future of this foundational genre.\u00a0 The Mississippi Blues Project is produced by WXPN-FM in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<h3>Credits<\/h3>\n<p>The Executive Producer of the Mississippi Blues Project is Bruce Warren, the Assistant Station Manager at WXPN and Executive Producer of <em>World Cafe<\/em><strong>\u00ae<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Project Consultant to the Mississippi Blues Project is Jonny Meister, host of <em><a title=\"The Blues Show with Jonny Meister\" href=\"http:\/\/xpn.org\/xpn-programs\/blues-show\">The Blues Show<\/a> on WXPN since 1977<\/em> and <a title=\"The Blues and Beyond with Jonny Meister\" href=\"http:\/\/xpn.org\/xpn-programs\/blues-and-beyond\"><em>The Blues &amp; Beyond <\/em><\/a>which is distributed nationally via the Public Radio Exchange. <em>The Blues Show <\/em>was selected by <em>Philadelphia Magazine <\/em>as the best local radio show in Philadelphia in 1996, and in 2000, Meister was a recipient of the \u201cKeeping The Blues Alive\u201d award from The Blues Foundation for work in public radio. An authority on Chicago bluesman J.B. WXPN serves the greater Philadelphia area at 88.5 FM, the Lehigh Valley at 104.9, Worton\/Baltimore at 90.5 FM, Lancaster\/York at 88.7 FM, Harrisburg at 99.7 FM, and the world via online streaming at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/xpn.org\" target=\"_blank\">XPN.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>About The Philadelphia Music Project<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The Philadelphia Music Project<\/strong> (PMP), a program of <a title=\"Pew Center for Arts &amp; Heritage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pcah.us\" target=\"_blank\">The Pew Center for Arts &amp; Heritage<\/a>, was initiated in 1989 to foster artistic excellence and innovation in the region\u2019s music community. PMP meets this objective by supporting commissions and productions of new works, presentations of large-scale, rarely performed, or culturally significant works or repertoires, interdisciplinary collaborations, and similar programmatic enhancements.\u00a0 Music organizations, independent presenters, and individual artists working in any genre may apply for grants to present adventurous and imaginative work.<\/p>\n<p>PMP also sponsors seminars, symposia, and study trips intended to explore issues relevant to the field.
