Essential listening: Big George Brock

August 4, 2012 | In Learn,Listen

Big George Brock is one of the Mississippi Blues Project featured artists. We asked Jonny Meister, who helped curate this series, and the host The Blues Show and Blues And Beyond on WXPN on Saturdays at 7PM ET, to suggest a couple of albums by Big George Brock that should be in your record collection. Meister calls Brock’s Club Caravan on the Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art label, a “potent album with the force of Muddy and Wolf.” Live At Seventy Five – also on the Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art label – is a live blues album recorded at the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Both albums are available to purchase here, where you can also find an excellent selection of CD’s by Mississippi blues musicians as well as DVD’s including the outstanding We Juke Up In Here! documentary.
